Alfa.

Yes, I am aware that no one "does blogs" anymore.  They tumble.  Or tumbl...?  I got one of those too, but while I find that site is ideal for the eye candy that often accompanies my profession, this format is better suited for episodic epistles to cyberspace, and is more personal in that it's intended mostly for friends and family.  No tagging!  I'm a violin maker by trade, and an outdoor enthusiast by reputation.  This site will recount my adventures into the more natural world.

Lake Blanche Basin from the summit of Mount Dromedary

I am currently finishing school in Salt Lake City, one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the country if you have any inclination for gulches, rivers, footbridges, trails, canyons, deer, wildflowers, caves, trees, mountains, tarns, hillsides, meadows, forests, campsites, planewrecks, switchbacks, overlooks, water bars, waterfalls, ledges, rock slides, bluffs, aspen groves, moose, kames, valleys, peaks, knife edges, avalanche chutes, scree fields, glaciers, thickets, mountain goats, basins, etc.  Most of the people who live here aren't into that sort of thing, so the Wasatch, while popular enough, still affords one quite a bit of solitude if you search hard enough.  It saddens me that in a few short months I will be moving back east to Long Island, where such wilderness doesn't exist.   Therefore I intend to make the most of these few short months as I possibly can.  I invite you to follow along, and try not to get too bored along the way.
